What are we going to do when they nuke Tel Aviv?
As I’m sure may of you know, Iran has been fronting again, and is also close to nuclear capability.
I hear a lot of tough talk from American and Canadian Zionist quarters, but I don’t know if I buy it. After all, what are we going to do if they nuke Israel? What the hell are we going to do?
I mean, of course the Simon Wiesenthal Center will condemn them as antisemites in uncompromising language, and sure the ADL will call for a sanctions, and sure, the Jewish state will retaliate, and Iran will never be the same again.
But neither will the Jewish state or the Jewish people.
And then what?
I am increasingly pessimistic that there is any good way out of this, or even a survivable way out of this. We need a miracle, and have not seen one in a very long time. And don’t tell me Chanukah. Chanukah was not a miracle. It was a fundamentalist uprising much like the one in Iran in 1979.
And look what that got us.

We need a variation of Mutual Assured Destruction, something like Assured Destruction for You, Possible Survival for Me. Doesn’t make a good acronym, but you get the idea.
This would possibly involve some or all of the following:
1. Credible anti-missle system
2. Clear signals that the U.S. would participate in pre-emption/retaliation
3. Clear signals that Iran would be blamed and punished for nuclear attacks of ambiguous origin
4. Clear signals that time to get out of the pre-emptive crosshairs is rapidly running out
Alternate to all of the above: I have no idea what to do.

That is why I proposed ADYPSM.
Muffti isn’t so sure there is a real difference between the cold war and this, to be honest. Say what you like about Iran, they have self interests and one of them is clearly not to be nuked. Is it really likely that they prefer the destruction of Israel to their own survival? Muffti finds it unlikely. Then again, he’s not living in the reach of Iranian nukes so…
A friend once suggested making New Jersey the new Jewish homeland. Hell it’s no desert-but it is only a PATH train away from the largest concentrated population of Jewry in the world.
Mufti, the goals aren’t the same. Communism did not allow for a Marxist Olum Habuh for martyrs. Islam clearly does. If Iran and Israel both go, Islam wins. This was once expressed publicly by a high ranking cleric, can’t remember who, not that long ago. And if not Iran, someone else. If not directly, then though an emissary.
Things look very grim to me.
