Update on Yeshiva University’s Mechinah Program

If you or someone you know is in the mechinah program, please ask them if they will be willing to contact me for a story. I don’t know where it will be published yet, but it is my intention to do a story on YU’s grading of morning prayer services — for BTs, and only for BTs.

this is more of a question then a comment…is it true what ive heard that the people in this program get a scholarship?

Simmy,

I have no idea if there is greater scholarships for the Mechinah programs than other programs at YU…though it would make sense for bolstering a new program to have offer such scholarships.

I am a Ba’al Teshuva, currently in the Mechina Program and I can tell you, from personal experience that morning prayers are highly encouraged, but NOT graded, or forced in any way.
I have really been enjoying the Mechina Program; the teachers and Rabbis are wonderful and I do attend prayer services BY CHOICE.

Is the Mechina Program open to those who would like to convert to Judaism? It seems like an ideal way to prepare for conversion.
