Israel Gets It. Why Don’t You People?

The Israel Project sent out a press release that,

On Mon. (Jan. 21) the Israeli government announced its support of an ambitious plan to install the world’s first electric car network in Israel by 2011. The initiative is aimed at addressing global dependence on foreign oil from undemocratic regimes and mitigating the health and environmental damages caused by emissions from gas-burning vehicles. Said Israeli President Shimon Peres, “Today is a new age with new dangers and the greatest danger is that of oil. It is the greatest polluter of our age and oil is the greatest financier of terror.â€?

Full press release

I strongly encourage Jews of every political stripe to support alternatives to oil. Like-minded people need to do more on this issue, because stupid Federation owned newspaper won’t do shit. I don’t like to point fingers, but even degenerate hipsters should concentrate more (like, at all) on energy issues. Even hippy sites who only care about social issues should care. Perhaps they can put it in a post-modern context or something. Even Zionists who think that writing biting satires against Hamas and her supporters is the best answer should care about energy. Even the ladies should care. Even Neocons pretending they are hawkish liberals should care. Even republicans who pretend to believe the market can solve everything should care. Even halacha guy should care, and he should admit he is solidly RWMO and not in between RWMO and LWUO. Even anarchists should care, and should support government initiatives and regulation, just this once. Even monotone religious right-wing Zionist guy should care. Even scary, angry right-wing Zionists should care. Even the softest of the frum skeptics should care. Even frummies who really just want everyone to act kindler and gentler should care about getting off oil. Even frummies who believe everyone sucks except frum people and right-wing Christians should care.

We all need to keep oil alternatives on our front burner. This is not a 19th century war between the righteous misnagdim and the depraved, proste chassidim that we can put on the back burner because it’s one haredi gob of foul mush so who cares anymore. This is something we need to settle NOW. Our world, our environment, and the Zionist entity depend on massive change. Not skin deep change…but real change.

Israel is leading the way out of sheer strategy, and desperation no one else is leading the way…they don’t have the economy for this sort of thing, but no one else is doing it. And do not kid yourselves…this is a very ominous situation.

Have you read the books of the holy Chief Rabbi on environmentalism? He is very pro-environment.

I’m a chassid of his.

Oh I’m scary, am I?

Concentrate on energy issues? Been there, doing that

peres’ proposals tend to be high flying vaporware. An electric car network isn’t going to solve the real oil problems, not until the impact of oil on the cost of transportation which underlies the cost of all products and services is addressed. Not to mention manufacturing uses of oil. Consumer transportation is at least more vulnerable to oil price increases and we’ll probably be seeing widespread adoption of hybrids and high end fuel cell models by 2012. It won’t solve the problem though.

DK, you are right, new car engine is a definite thing of the nearest future.
But there is something else that iss also interesting in this regard, and, of all “bloggers”, FM might be interested.
Self-appointed Messianic “Chief Rabbi” of Russia is supported by “Jewish” oligarkchs who plundered Russian natural resourses, INCLUDING VAST SIBERIAN OIL!
Putin/Lazar regime will fall apart when oil will return to the price of >$10/barrell(as in 1986)
You know, “frummies”(your expression?..) will faint if shown semi-”indecent” contents of Lazar’s racket’s website jewish.ru.
As I wrote before, all this stuff would cause enormous harm to the future Russian-Jewish relationship, including “peace process”.
The sooner the “oligarkchs” will go otta buisness, will be unable to leave 500 Euro tips at Kurshavel saloons and their gentile mistresses will go back turning tricks, the better.
P.S. Thank G-d, there is a Russian Nationalistic website website ari.ru, that is , sort of, pro-Jewish.
It calls Lazar and oligarkchs “false Jews” and nicknamed them “moldavians”(?)
Remember “Ghostbusters2″?

It’s been awhile since I saw Ghostbusters….what’s the reference?

Who are these Russian-Nationalists? Which Jews do they like? Which groups do they not like?

In Europe, we do care. I think Americans still need to do a little catching up on becoming environmentally conscious.

Son, we’ve been posting about this since before you were in the womb. http://www.jewlicious.com/index.php?p=625

And we have lots of hummus posts (alternative energy) not to mention my shabbat image posts which include oil used on canvas.

Dude… we posted about the car already. It should be noted that an electric car still requires fossil fuel especially in a country like Israel that doesn’t use nuclear or hydroelectric power to generate electricity. What we mostly use is Diesel fuel and coal and while electric cars use less fossil fuels they still use rely on it. I’d be more into mass transit, hydrogen fuel cells - stuff like that. Or better yet, bicycles, which I used to use until my bike got stolen.

Motherfuckers.

But yeah. We celebrate recycling and environmental responsibility as Jewish values. And we make fun of Hamas. The two can coexist ya know.

They stole your bike?!

Motherfuckers!
