Magen Mobius

Mobius just hooked me up (yet again) with this new site. It is so much fun, and I am so grateful. I was going to even tattoo his Orthodox Anarchist shield on my arm to demonstrate my appreciation, but it turns out, someone already beat me to it, and I don’t want everyone accusing me of jumping on this new hipster fad.

Some of you may not know this, but Mobius, who descends from ancestors that practiced a particularly Talmudic-intensive brand of chassidut, used to be a neo-chassid, but recently declared himself a neo-Litvak. Mobius told The Kvetcher that he was at a melave malke with some very spiritual liberal Orthodox Jewish educator/rabbi types, and finally realized the beauty of the Litvishe derech, which he describes as, “Get the fuck out of my face with that hippie bullshit.”

This is the legacy of normative Judaism.

That tattoo looks burning angry. Hope the skin is well taken care of.

“Get the fuck up out my face with that hippie bullshit.”

Do you agree with this?

It’s tongue and cheek, but you have to hang out with the kind of 20-somethings he is talking about. All outdoing each other with how spiritual they are. It’s oppressive.
