The Jewish Press asks…

Why are haredim so fat?

They even raise the point that,

Some might blame sedentary lifestyles…

Yes. Some might blame just that.

Most schools give their students a 30-minute gym session once a week, but many contend that is simply not enough.

That article was loltastic. I simply cannot picture yeshivas changing and going all public school new age hippy dietitian.

I don’t even want to think of the attempts to find hidden negative meaning in a food PYRAMID.

You know those MP3 shiurs? Imagine a heads-up display with a video iPod for on the go studying and you can just imagine the lawsuits for injury as young men go running and studying at the same time, banging into things. Though treadmills would work I suppose. I’d be interested to see anyone daven while running but I suppose if a lion was chasing you, you could find a way but it would hardly be very dignified.

Take it from a support tech. You can only sit in front of any desk for so long, regardless of the task at hand, before the lack of exercise gets to you. But if they spent more time exercising it might lead to looking at girls, not studying Torah, and other horrible things like transcendental ruminations on nature and G-d which only leads to Chasidism and we can hardly afford that.

I don’t see a way out other than to stop eating and go on IVs and feeding tubes metered electronically for accuracy.

Maybe stationary exercise bikes…

Oh, Jesus. YA THINK?

And, suitepotato - the food pyramid? What were you thinking? Don’t you know that the pyramid is the symbol of Egypt, and therefore comes from the sitra achra? What’s more, it’s a product of science, which is itself an invention of the Evil One. Food that comes in the form of a pyramid can only nourish a gentile soul, which, as every yeshiva bochur knows, is operating on a lower plane.

How about just ignore the stupid pyramid and stop buying processed or frozen foods, and not cook with white flour, corn syrup, hydrogenated oil, white sugar, white rice and instead prepare homemade whole-grain real food at home yourself…oh, wait. That won’t work. Guess they’ll just have to stay fat.
