Chabad Gossip From Heeb
Apparently, Chabad Midtown’s dinner honoree, Lapo Elkann, was a no-show at Chabad Midtown’s twelfth annual dinner at Cipriani’s.
Heeb gleefully notes that Elkann once had “a gnarly cocaine overdose after partying with Italian transsexuals.”
Note to self: Must party at Chabad Midtown.

Oh come on. Interesting story, but very tabloid, and possibly slanderous. What does this man’s past have to do with the fact that he hocked up some money for Chabad, and they chose to throw him a party? You know how these things works. They aren’t pretending to honor tzaddikim.

As in there is very little substance in this post for the reasons I mentioned above.

The obvious implication here is that he was absent because he was busy engaging in something illicit. Maybe the guy just didn’t feel like showing up. Have you ever been to one of those Chabad honoree things?
Yeah, well…it’s best to not promise to attend YOUR OWN AWARDS CEREMONY if you can’t be bothered to show up.
Have you ever blown something important off before? Probably it wasn’t due to a coke-binge. There. I just gave you the benefit of the doubt. The guy was a generous enough benefactor to merit being honored in the first place. Maybe he should get a pass on the scorn this one time.
