Whacked with a 2 x 4
Part V
Nancy Cuevas Guzman alleges,
I was very hurt by the 2×4. I still have the board. I was whacked quite hard at the hip. Police took photos and so did my doctor, (which I have), when he wrote a report for police records. The puncture wounds were visible from the nails.
This was the last incident and although the person who did this was Haraedi, he was not part of the first original attackers. This last guy was a kook who was attacking me over “cats”. I was delivering cat food to his friend who lived in filthy conditions with about 20 starving, disease-infected, toothless cats (from a virus epidemic), and “a chicken.”
I am amazed that the police released this guy. Yes, he has “challenges,” however, he is also dangerous. These guys drink vodka all day.
The week before, this same “kook” slashed my friend’s tire over the cats. My friend works for the City at an animal shelter. They have a grant to help these animals absolutely free of charge. Part of what they do is to spay them, as well as treat them for their medical diseases. They have a letter from a rabbi which verifies that it is OK to spay the animals for they are suffering greatly and multiplying as fast as bunnies.
In this instance, the Haraedi guy was shouting that it is forbidden in the Torah to spay the cats. I believe he is right if the animal is male. It is OK to neuter the female….typical. However, in this neighborhood, in particular, this house which was across from me with broken windows which the cats jump through…it is pretty horrible.
I found cats that were dragging a dislocated leg behind them and nursing kittens at the same time. I found a kitten with a crushed hip dragging itself…terrible conditions. I took these cases to a vet for I could not handle seeing it day after day. I paid out of my pocket and finally had to call the City.
Again, as always, the Haredim always do what they do for religion. I feel like I live in Iran.
Next week: Big Aish rabbi discourages Nancy from speaking out

I ‘m shocked what I’m reading right here.
I am glad a woman is coming out and telling the truth. This can not be, that a Rabbi does such things as in the last story.
The violence is also shocking. I can not believe that Haredis are doing this. It is not normal that they harass woman. Want to hear more!
I am very curious if there are more woman who have experience with these kind of harassment
well, if ur in shock over something like this, how about a woman (and the soldier who tried to defend her and got beaten, as well) for sitting in the front part of a bus that goes to and from bet shemesh?
nancy is telling the truth and ur right. it’s about time that women started to speak up. we are women and we’re human beings. if men have such issues (and we all know that they DO), let them buy their own bus company (women outnumber men, anyway, and we need the room on buses thank u very much). i am glad to give up my seat to an elderly man (religious, or not) but to be accosted like that because of where i’m sitting (oh, yeah, my elbows are a real turn-on), it’s just pathetic. thankfully, no man has encountered me on a bus. oh, wait, i don’t ride “mehadrin” buses…
so the hareidim have no problem treating all kinds of pussys like crap. (sorry I couldn’t resist)
I have always wondered why in England 4 X 2 is rhyming slang for Jew.
Chereidi Judaism has become hyper-sexualized, which is incredibly amusing because they claim to be so separate from decadent western culture. The constant focus, teachings, warnings, and holier-than-thou-ism on things that a secular man would NOT look twice at means they have eroticism on their minds all the time. Since they have this on their minds and it has no permissible outlet for most of them (even for married ones half the month), that eroticism gets sublimated into violence. It’s a very well-known psychological phenomena that is sweeping through the younger generation of bochurim who have been taught that all women are evil temptresses. The cognitive dissonance from wanting (naturally, biologically normal needs) women and being taught they are evil and poisonous frankly causes mental illness. The “cats” issue is just an excuse for violence - any excuse would have done. Until chereidi Judaism returns to teaching normal relationships between men and women, this continual distraction by eroticism will continue and the violence will get worse. There are articles and documentaries about this very thing in the Muslim community - and the Jewish taliban isn’t far behind.
There is the question of animal testing - lest we forget. The issue in the Haredi view is, if it is permissible to use animals for our pleasure and our cosmetics give us pleasure, then animal testing of our cosmetics on animals should be permissible.
A little off the point, granted, but I wanted to bring this up as it seems to me that once law is diverted from morals and ethics then many issues of abuse are distorted. Is a right justified because law is followed to the letter? Can I abuse animals, humans and disregard life because grey areas in legal cses are dismissed?
Where are our “Zdadikim” going with this thinking? The answer I fear is in intolerance and abuse of humans.
Please Haredim, STOP TO THINK!
Violence against sexuality, especially women, has very deep roots in biblical tradition. Whilst fundamentalists everywhere continue to strictly adhere to their ancient traditions and resist modifying unattractive practices violence will prevail.
Whilst Nancy has been easy prey for the perverts of Nachaloat, thank goodness she is not shackled by the taboos against reporting the abuse. Fungus grows and thrives in the dark until it is exposed to the light. Silence only encourages the abusers. It’s time for the ultra orthodox leadership to acknowledge, expose and address the core issues of the escalating violence in their constituencies.
This gets more and more bizarre. Some of the things Nancy says are borderline truth, but most of what she says are the ravings of a madwoman. I have lived in Nachlaot for many years, and know people who were here when the neighborhood was nothing and what Nancy is describing is all wrong–how can it be that she is the only one in the entire area who has ever been persecuted?? Nobody in this area has heard of such things–some of us have been asking around because we like living here and want it to continue being the family friendly (non-violent) place that it is. Jerusalem is full of xians like Nancy, who come here and suddenly “feel their jewish roots” and decide they have to live here. When they learn the only way to citizenship is conversion the whole mess begins. Someone should check the facts. Nachlaot has very few haredi residents and they keep to themselves in one small spot. If Nancy knew anything about haredi life she would not be spouting her crap. This area is mostly national religious and secular with a few sefardi thrown in. Lately there are some Philipinos, Africans and of course the xians–they think they have and “in” because the majority of the people are Carlebach and they are very open and welcoming to everyone. It is a lovely area close to everything so it is very popular. Nancy’s problems are not caused by the people in this community. My guess is that she will have these wild type of stories no matter where in the world she goes because she is a troubled person–end of story. Nobody here would deny the haredi problems, the crazies roaming the streets and the cats (a problem everywhere here, but that is a different story). These things are problematic and need to be addressed, but Nancy’s mess is because of her own internal instability. Israel is a tiny speck of sand surrounded by an ocean of enemies, but I fear it is the enemy within, people like Nancy, that could wipe us off the map. Don’t get sucked in.
Hi from knowing nancy i think that she is all wounderful you know one cant imagine that much and i heard stories from her and after that last incident in beit shemesh and jerusalem well you know maybe she is not the one to blame but our selfs and still you know she is a single woman in a mans place and is to visible so maybe if she were two blocks from there none of it wouldnt have happend
“Violence against sexuality, especially women, has very deep roots in biblical tradition.”
Really? I can only think of one possible example from the Bible that can be construed as such. Can you site a few? Otherwise you run the risk of sounding like some off-the-mark freshman Woman’s Studies major.

well, orfaned, if u knew ur ass from ur elbow, ud know that what happened to nancy is the truth. i, too, have lived in the hood for some time and i know that it has its share of alcoholics, drug addicts, and people who are a few sandwiches short of a picnic. perhaps u see fit to turn a blind eye to all of this…
“Israel is a tiny speck of sand surrounded by an ocean of enemies, but I fear it is the enemy within, people like Nancy, that could wipe us off the map. Don’t get sucked in.”
oh, please. we are our own worst enemy and everyone knows it. the strife among all the different sects of judaism is pathetic and u are no different. there are people who know nancy personally and were witness to what happened to her. u are either in denial, or ur just out to discredit her.
nancy is jewish and she has the paperwork to prove it. i’ve seen it and i do understand spanish. i know what the documents say. and a real rabbi (not this eisenstein) also saw the paperwork. the rabbi is from argentina so i think he knows a bit more than u. so before u open ur mouth and stick ur foot in it, get the facts. as i have said before, there are plenty of us who can corroborate her “wild type of stories”.
“Jerusalem is full of xians like Nancy, who come here and suddenly “feel their jewish roots” and decide they have to live here.”
and who are u to judge anyone who discovers his/her judaism and chooses to come to israel? i’m sorry, did G-d die and leave u in charge? every jew has the right to make that decision. it’s not ur business to make that judgment. perhaps u should look at ur own middot. instead of attacking her for her accusations, which happen to be true, why don’t u speak to her urself and find out what she has to say? could be that ur afraid to hear the truth. tough. this is life and this kind of garbage can happen anwhere, anytime, to anyone. wake up and smell the coffee.
“i, too, have lived in the hood for some time and i know that it has its share of alcoholics, drug addicts, and people who are a few sandwiches short of a picnic”
be careful hamsa
people might realize that the people nancy is hallucinating about were druggies, not haredim.
it is unfortunate that these men about whom nancy is speaking wear the traditional black and white clothing of hareidim. they can be found, sitting outside the gate where one of these men lives, drinking from their bottles of clear liquid. they ain’t drinking water. and, considering the bottles have “vodka” written on them in both english and russian, it would appear that the only people hallucinating are those here on this forum. all nancy did was bring a bag of cat food over to this man so that he could feed them when she left for her new place and the other guy who was with him went ballistic and attacked her. an australian man who lives in the neighborhood heard what was going on and got to nancy just before he swung and missed her head.
if u all wish to stand by the hareidim, bevakasha. many of them give truly religious people a bad name. these men are alcoholics. they wear black and white. they’re really no different than anyone else. it’s very sad that they have these problems, but there are plenty of hareidim who don’t have these problems, yet are still willing to attack people because of how they dress, where they sit on a bus, etc. these people do not practice the judaism of moshe rabeinu.
nancy comes from a family of anusim, or the derogatory “marranos”. she found out from her mother that she is jewish so she came to israel to find out more about her heritage. nancy has been attacked, physically, simply because she is different from the typical hareidim. she has an outgoing personality, she’s friendly, she has a heart for cats, etc. many hareidim are so wrapped up in their halacha and stringencies that they can’t see the forest for the trees. it’s sickening how jews treat each other simply because we all come from different cultures. well isn’t that just too damn bad. who are u to accuse nancy of hallucinating? were u there when she was attacked? did u see the marks left on her by this 2 x 4? were u at the police station when they smiled and laughed with the guy who whacked her and then let him go? were u in the same room with her when the so-called rabbi from aish forced her to touch him inappropriately? because none of u were around when any of these things happened to her, u automatically assume that a) it’s her fault, b) she’s lying, or c) that these things don’t happen in the jewish world.
y’all should take off ur rose-colored glasses and get down off ur pedestals. the way that people like all of u treat nancy (a returning jew) is pathetic and ur an embarrassment to the jewish nation. it is no wonder that mashiach is not here and our bet hamikdash is not built. instead of supporting one another, we only tear down. think about that as tisha b’av approaches.
this is becoming slightly clearer. she started up with some drunks?
i see that ur understanding of the english language is about as good as ur understanding of the german language…
If Nancy is really serious, then why is she still hanging around the haredim?? Get real, she could go to many synagogues “even in Nachlaot” and she would be welcomed with open arms! If she is being abused, attacked and what-ever, why is she determined to stay in the same place!! Leave the drunks and perverts and go to a neighborhood where she can become a member and have people who care–and make no mistake about it, there are many, many people in Jerusalem who are decent and caring. By the way, I do not have rose colored glasses–I have lived all over the world and been in situatios so ugly you couldn’t dream them up. A woman alone is no easy thing, but there are ways of getting away from bad environments–a legal system, lawyers, private investigators, media–a whole host of people who would love to take up a case like this. And if that doesn’t work, then you need to have the guts and brains to pick up and move along.
nancy is now being helped by people. good people who understand her situation. she has been before a bet din, but they seemingly don’t understand anything about marranos. apparently, “they need time to study the situation”. this, from our wonderful rabbinate.
u are not the only woman who has been on her own. i left everything behind in the states and have been on my own for most of my life. HaShem has put people in my path to help me, just as He has done for nancy. nancy is here now to tell her story and to make people aware of what’s going on with a certain organization and certain rabbis. this situation has been going on for years and no one, until now, has had the courage to bring it out into the open. people tried to stifle her, but she pushed ahead with the courage to tell people. she isn’t the only one who has suffered because of this organization. yes, there are many good and caring people here in jerusalem and thankfull, she has found them, albeit a bit too late.
how she proceeds to deal with this is her business. we don’t have the right to sit in judgment. the issue is being worked on, it seems, and if she cares to divulge those details, again, that’s her business. fighting against the corruption within the rabbinate is no easy task.
