Big Aish is the Torah Itself

In an essay foul and offensively self-aggrandizing even by Big Aish standards, Nechemia Coopersmith, the editor of Aish.com, explains the basis for Aish’s success in employing sleazy, deceptive, and glitzy tactics; from Bible Codes to a Zionist facade.

Actually, it’s simple. Aish HaTorah and other outreach organizations have the most powerful “product” in the universe - the Torah. Torah is the Almighty’s instructions for living. The Torah teaches us how to maximize our pleasure and potential in life. It’s the owner’s manual, the blueprint of creation and the most revolutionary book in history. As the Talmud says: “Turn it over, turn it over - everything is in it.”

Torah sells itself[...] Everything Aish does stems from this.

See? Big Aish’s success is from the Torah! Apparently, the Torah wants you to lie, deceive, and give glitzy canned answers, without even basic fact checking. That’s Torah, folks — that’s Big Aish. To attack Big Aish–on anything– is to attack the Torah itself. Big Aish IS the Torah, and Big Aish’s rabbis all Moshe Rabbeinus.

So please remember to address the Rosh Yeshiva in third person as a sign of worship respect!

These people are such incorrigible egoists they are actually heretics. They need to have their “museum” removed from its proximity to the Kotel. The Kotel — sponsored by Big Aish!

These maniacs cannot be allowed to represent traditional Judaism.

Why the link to an aicha tape? I don’t get it. Are you saying this is worthy of lamentation? Why that particular link?

Yes, I am asking how is it that we have fallen so low as a people that these cheeseheads can claim to represent traditional Judaism.

Well sheesh… you have pork eating, sabbath desecrating Jews claiming that their brand of Judaism is just as legitimate as anyone else’s. So what?

No Hassidic entity, not a single one, can claim to represent Traditional Judaism. Haredim “tremble in awe” before God, whereas Bnei Yisrael, you know, that guy who was the third founding father of Judaism? Well, Bnei Yisrael struggle with their Judaism. Relying on humra after humra (while often ignoring shitty behavior in their midst) is the easy way out. Judaism isn’t easy. It’s hard and it’s complicated.

So folks on either side of the religious spectrum can claim whatever they like - I can claim I am the King of France - that don’t make it so. You piss me off because you focus on the Haredim and totally ignore everyone and everything else standing in line waiting to fuck up the life of a young Jew.

Y’all should just give it up and recognize that the only legitimate form of Judaism is that practiced by Sephardic, North African Jews.

Just sayin’ is all…

They don’t pretend they are the only “true” voice of Judaism. Admit it — you find Aish obnoxious, don’t you? They may be machmir on food and melacha on shabbos, but they worship themselves. They have erected an Aish HaTorah idol outside the Temple Mount.

They should get it over with and carve a statue of Rabbi Weinberg’s face in the Kotel already.

Oh Duvidle. The last people I met who had been through the Aish machine were 3 attractive young ladies. In a bar in New York. And they weren’t dressed in a tzniusdic manner. They went on an Aish program in Israel, got to see the country, learned a little about their religion and zehu. Nothing nefarious there at all. Is the Haredi lifestyle for me? Clearly not. But dude, you’re not exactly manifesting Ahavat Chinam in your unrelenting, lopsided attacks on Aish and Haredim. I know that you ultimately have a more nuanced world view - I’d just like to see it applied in a more even handed and ultimately fair manner.

So Aish claims it’s the shiznit? So what?? And a building is not an idol!! It’s just a yeshivah man.

No, they are being handed the mantle of the history of Judaism Museum.

http://www.ynetnews.com/articl.....79,00.html

They are backed by Hollywood. Rabbi Kirk Douglas is backing Rabbi Weinberg’s kid.

Awful. Just an awful and exceptionally aggressive organization…oh, and I can’t wait to see their “depiction” of “the history of the Jewish nation.”

Finally, Artscroll will have its own museum RIGHT OUTSIDE THE KOTEL.

While they’re at it, why not make one of Rabbi Weinberg’s sons the dean of Hebrew University? Kirk Douglas will probably pay for a new dorm building if they do.

They could put it right next to the Frank Sinatra cafeteria!

this is weird stuff, DK.
you dont agree with the point they are making, but rather than showing their reasoning to be faulty, you employ shddy tactics, attack them as egoists for making it, and turn the whole thing into an attack on Rabbi Weinberg? ( id love to hear you argue your position on Judaism and explain your choices, to him, or any other serious Talmid Chacham!!!!!!!! think Mike Tyson versus Barry Mcguiggan (and DK, you arent iron mike in the analogy!!!))
Saying that Torah is everything is not exactly outside the pale of normal Judaism….. it is just not your approach.
DK, something is bothering you…………. “the lady doth protest to much, shethinks”

Tough talk from a guy who hangs out in trayfe restaurants, has premarital sex, and builds websites for pornographers.

Read the Torah and you’ll quickly learn there’s nothing that characterizes the Jewish experience more than violating the Torah itself.

Wait, are you saying there are people that have postmarital sex?

11 Ham on Matzoh { 08.04.08 at 3:11 pm }

I keep my wife wobbling.

12 Sarah/froylein { 08.04.08 at 3:26 pm }

I’ve turned down all proposals so far, so how would I know? :)

But the image on my mind of a rash of ham topping a piece of matzoh getting things on is pretty amusing.

13 Ham on Matzoh { 08.04.08 at 3:32 pm }

Oh, you like that hardcore ham on matzoh action? CK should build a website…

14 Sarah/froylein { 08.04.08 at 3:35 pm }

Nah, nobody would be interested to watch a lil swamp monster like me engaging in food sex.
