More Menken Mendacity
November 21, 2008 Haredim
Mendacious Menken continues his intentional distortions and lies to defend a baby “manslaughterer” because he is frum and the Gedolim said he must be innocent (because he is frum!).
The honorable Dov Bear already went to town, but I have something specific to add, as this episode really encapsulates this slithering haredi’s dishonesty to the core.
One of the questions about Menken’s foolish insistence that there is “reasonable doubt” as to whether the haredi manslaughterer was abusive is that the infant had symptoms of “shake the baby.”
Menken’s astounding retort was to question the science of shake the baby syndrome.
The science of Shaken Baby Syndrome is not at all clear. Dr Patrick Barnes, the prosecution’s star medical witness in the Woodward case, reversed his opinion and wrote in a published paper that “There is certainly, in retrospect, reasonable doubt.”
But is shake the baby syndrome really in doubt? Let’s go to the source Menken is cherry-picking from, and read the whole paragraph.
In 2007, Dr Patrick Barnes, the prosecution’s star medical witness, reversed his opinion: he concluded that death could have been caused by an old injury, as argued by the defence. In a scientific paper he states: “The science we have today could, in fact, have exonerated Louise. There is certainly, in retrospect, reasonable doubt.” [6]
So his “reversal” appears to be limited to the specific case in question, and by no means is “the science of Shaken Baby Syndrome not at all clear.” Rather, it appears from this quote to be clearer than ever before.
So in order to presume innocence, Menken is actually resorting to an intentional distortion of science.
This is not a new game for the haredim. Nor is it for Menken. Let’s take a look at what the mendacious one actually wrote on The Kvetcher in a comment defending Cross Currents (see comment three).
The problem jews- even frum ones who accept the ani maamins and keep shobbes, is they arent goreis the part of Jewish philosophy that is thousands of years old ( and not made up in response to modern science) and an authentic and fundamental deah in Torah that G-d is hidden in the universe. It has been understood that Hashem certainly has deliberately planted false information in the world.
* For gosh sakes, if someone cut down a tree in Adams time it showed rings according to thousands of years of Torah ideology which had no problem with this even though they knew that rings took time to develop.
The whole of Adam was a deceptive appearance, as he was an adult on his first day in the world according to Torah thought. So the idea that Torah thought didnt believe that God has things not look as they are to the eye is very acceptable to the thousands of years of Torah deos.Another one before we get to he number 1 greatest example of this:
* God having a river running thru a canyon which for thousands of years man saw created widening rivers or canyons- this clearly appears to have caused mature canyons- this is all misleading evidence* And ultimately, the biggest misleading evidence of all , which is clearly our hashkafa- The world looks like it runs like a machine by itself without moment to moment guidance by the Creator- that is misleading evidence!
This MEANS THE UNIVERSE IS SHOT THru WITH FALSE EVIDENCE, [ THOUGH GOD IN THE END TELLS US THE TRUTH.]Ultimately there IS NO deception since Hashem REVEALED the truth to us ( according to the thousands of year old Traditional Deos)
It only looks “deceptive” because you expect the truth to be visible only from your observations of the physical world. But the Torah never expected that. The torah never tells us to expect that.
Menken reports to leaders who lie. They, in turn, worship a God who lies. All in the name of a higher truth.
The higher truth being the preferred fantasy interpretations of the Gedolim.
The Judaism of Menken is not monotheism. Menken worships men. He worships Gedolim. He is a polytheist.
And sometimes, to appease these false gods, a child must be sacrificed. And why not? Polytheism has a strong tradition of child sacrifice.
Perhaps with a mild sentence of manslaughter, one can hope that his gods will be appeased for a little while. But the reality is, because of secular-monotheist interference, the sacrifice was rendered imperfect.

They lose me as soon as they start with the Yinglish. How many generations have they been here – yet still they speak as though they just got off the effing boat?
This kind of “reasoning” makes my temple throb (no pun intended). If I weren’t already an atheist…
(Just as an aside: I’m not convinced that the pagans and polytheists were sacrificing children – consider the source – but it doesn’t detract from your point.)
And I read the previous post. He also said:
But denigrating gedolei yisroel who say that the above position is a possible one is one of the worst crimes a Jew could commit. The Talmud equates loshon hara as equal to the BIG 3.
And the Talmud says that loshon hara against talmidei chachamim is the worst of loshon hara and removes aperson from the world.
And the Talmud says that any aveirah done in public is a chillul Hashem. and when the act which is the Chillul Hashem is intentional then the punishment awaiting the person who commits the crime is the most severe because the talmud indicates that we are punished the most for the aveiros of rebellion and secondly for aveiros of laziness as opposed to aveiros that we commit through being overcome by physical tayva- so posting this on your site reaches the worst crimes.
Oh, noes! You actually suggested a godol could be wrong. I don’t want to be standing next to you when the lightning strikes, DK!
Fuck you, Menken. Fuck you and your fear-based, reason-defying, Pascal’s Wagering religion. Fuck you and the sheeple who came in with you.
And, Menken – I’m writing this on shabbos!
I hope we do outlaw circumcision here, DK. Then they can all crowd into Meah Shearim and B’nei Brak and call down curses upon us and wait for Moshiach to come and cleanse the earth of us. In the meantime, we can get on with the business of civilization (if it isn’t already too late, which it may very well be).
And Half Sours – I have no intention of mixing it up with you, because every time I speak my mind I end up spending half a day defending myself – so don’t even start with me. Let’s just say I’m a hateful, hateful man (like most liberals), and leave it at that.
DK–Nicely done. Remember, it’s EVIDENCE-BASED medicine. The science of detecting child abuse has come a long way, though it still has a long way to go.
Eyges–Calm down. Remember what the poet said, “Malt does more than Milton can/To justify God’s ways to man”. Or not God, or what you will.
Yes, but I don’t drink!
Now, if I were a Hareidi rov, I could just go out and molest myself a little boy. That’d calm me down!
Jeff,
I never said you were a hateful man. There might be a good reason why it takes you half a day to defend your views though.
Jeff–if you can’t self-medicate, get help. As much fun as it might be to fantasize about wiping out a particular group, this is an impulse that needs to be stifled before it comes to actuality. Your co-inmate, the molester, if convicted, needs to be imprisoned for a long time. If released, he must be electronically monitored and regularly injected with Depo-Provera.
Israeli haredim think they ought to be autonomous, but they are not nearly skilled, savvy, or self-supporting enough to be allowed to do so. They shouldn’t get autonomy when they refuse to take responsibility for a state.
Damn it, man, calm down.
Vallis’ roommates will probably enjoy re-enacting his adventures, with Vallis in the role of the baby. Yes, six years might be enough.
I didn’t say they should be wiped out (although I did, some months ago, mention that it would be nicer here if they weren’t). Frankly, I wouldn’t have the energy. I said they’ll migrate to a self-imposed exile if we do away with circumcision – which would be a good thing; they’ll no longer be hanging around the schools, accosting innocent Jewish kids and screwing with their minds. They’ll also no longer be in a position to vote for whomever their Christian fundamentalist buddies tell them to – because no real Jew would ever have an opinion about something so worldly as politics, chos v’sholem!
Here in Jerusalem this is a great scandal. The one thing that really bothers me is a statement I read here:
http://shearim.blogspot.com/20.....e-not.html
It says that this creep now has another child and there are signs of abuse already. I wonder what defense there will be if the 2nd baby dies?
Chas v’ Chalilah.
At least Vallis will be watched now. Ironic, isn’t it, that his supposedly close-linked community failed to protect his son.
“It says that this creep now has another child and there are signs of abuse already. I wonder what defense there will be if the 2nd baby dies?”
The Haredim might argue that the injuries are consistent with falling of a flying carpet.
