Can we at least clear up the stranger (ger) language? In biblical times, a ger was a male convert to Judiasm.

I work for HIAS and am leading many of the Progress by Pesach efforts. I want to clarify that if you read the Progress by Pesach website, the first sentence clearly states that we do not believe raids should be used exclusively to deal with the broken immigration system. We are not against enforcement or the government doing its job but we need enforcement resources to target real threats to our communities. Raids have harmful impacts on our communities and cost a lot of money (the Postville raid cost $13,000 per person deported). This is why we are stressing that immigration reform needs to be a priority.

As for the petitions, I had not yet gone through them to delete duplications and blank entries but of course will do so before submitting them to the White House. I encourage you to contact me directly in the future to address such concerns!

Let's work together to fix our broken system.
