sharia law is not merely oppressive toward women; it is seen by jihadist Muslims as the future replacement for the Constitution and other documents of national law when Islam triumphs over western civilization. Advocating sharia could easily be seen as seditious.

There used to be large (numbering in the millions) Jewish communities in Arabia, Yemen, North Africa, Anatolia, Syria, Iran and Mesopotamia. They’ve all been wiped out now. Maimonides wrote about some of this.
