Proof that Coen Bros “A Serious Man” is a winner

Big Aish slammed it. Big Aish only slams great Indy pictures. Remember what they did to “Borat”?
Why does Big Aish react this way?
Because quality satire is a grave threat to Aish and many ultra-Orthodox people. It is in their interest to pretend that secular world — in it’s entirety — is stupid and depraved.
If the former is too much of a stretch, then they pitch the latter.
Big Aish prefers to restrict its supremacy to Harry Potter films, or even better, the likes of Paris Hilton.
Serious secular culture, and one preferred disproportionately by Jews, is perceived as a much greater threat.

Right off the bat, there are two things about this article that are completely inappropriate:
1. These are (with one exception, I understand), Conservative and/or Reform rabbis being lampooned. Ordinarily Aish wouldn’t give a fig about them; they wouldn’t even consider them to be rabbis. Aish is an organization dedicated to denigrating and disenfranchising these movements – until, apparently, they can be used as symbolic victims to bolster and validate the Haredi position. Which leads me to –
2. Even more troubling, to me, is the spectacle of a Modern Orthodox rabbi writing articles for Aish. These are Haredim; they see MO as a bigger corruption of and threat to Torah True Judaism™ than they see Conservative and Reform as being. Blech oughtn’t to be writing articles for them in the first place; it’s completely inappropriate. They think he’s going to burn in Gehinnom right alongside of us. In fact, I’m sure you’d find more than a handful of Haredi rabbis who’d insist it’ll be worse for him than it will be for us, because we can at least claim ignorance, while Blech supposedly knows better.
I am sick of people who ordinarily despise and invalidate one another getting into bed in order to attack a perceived mutual foe. The more I encounter the Modern Orthodox (although I try not to), the more evidence I come across that upholds your argument – there is more Haredi ass-kissing among the MO than you can shake a lulav at.
