HIAS bringing in Somalis

November 5, 2009   Immigration   HIAS

The Somalians are arguably the most brutal civilization on earth. And this is whom HIAS is bringing to this country while pretending to be servicing Jews.

Gal Beckerman reports, in “HIAS Still Aids Immigrants, but Most Don’t Resemble Sergey Brin” that,

In a departure from its storied history, more than 80% of those assisted and resettled by the agency are now Darfuri and Somali refugees, Burundians and Burmese, persecuted minorities from Iran and a plethora of other nationalities.

How influential is HIAS? Very. They are a major player in the mass immigration lobby.

According to Greg Siskind, an immigration lawyer based in Memphis, Tenn., who has served on HIAS’s board and is heavily involved with the immigration policy debate, the agency’s role in Washington is significant and growing. “HIAS has an even more considerable impact than its size and budget and refugee resettlement population might indicate,” Siskind said.

If there are no more sizable Jewish populations that need to be resettled, should the agency redefine its mission, or should it shut down? If it can help other immigrant populations, should it not? I know you have justifiable concerns over Muslim immigration, but these refugees are not the ones who’ve been committing atrocities; they’re fleeing from those atrocities.

Also, apparently, they have cut back:

The agency is a much scaled-back version of what it once was. In 1989, according to Roberta Elliott, HIAS’s vice president of media and communications, as many as 350 people worked in the New York office alone, including 80 in the resettlement department. Today, the agency has a total of 65 staffers throughout the United States, and only seven working on resettlement. More HIAS staffers are based in various refugee processing centers all over the world.

It should downsize, not shut down, and it should not change its mandate in order to survive and expand for the sake of the organization and contrary to the interests of the community it serves.

Just because a group has suffered does not make them the right fit or righteous.

Many Somali women have suffered FGM. They are indeed a group of survivors.

And the vast majority will still inflict or support inflicting this same brutality on their daughters.

Well, if they’re here, they can (hopefully) be educated not to do it. It’s illegal here, although I don’t know how often the authorities are catching it in time. It can at least be made clear that it won’t be tolerated. When they do get caught, they can be imprisoned. (Frankly, I think they should be killed, but good luck trying to implement that.)

As far as HIAS is concerned – it depends upon whom they help to relocate. If they’re bringing in the people who threatened that bar owner – I agree, it’s inappropriate. On the other hand, the immigration authorities could be better educated; they could tell prospective immigrants – “Look, this is America. You have the right to practice your faith, but you don’t have the right to expect others to make allowances for you, and any harassment of others or interference with their civil liberties is grounds for deportation”. If, after that meeting, INS had shown up at the mosque and told them, “Just one brick, just one egg, and the lot of you and your families are on the next plane to wherever”, then made good on it – that could go a long way.

It’s the same with FGM, honor killings, etc. There probably needs to be more preemption. It needs to be made clear to them that they need to leave that baggage at the door.

I’m glad my citizenship doesn’t make me eligible for kin liability (at least not officially), and I may still visit the US occasionally.

My way is a sound preemption plan.
