The Southern Poverty Law Center, once upon a time a bastion of civil rights work, has resorted to attempting to smear Steve Sailer as some sort of white supremacist the likes of David Duke and the music group Prussian Blue.

Why would they do such a thing? Are they really that thick that they can’t tell the difference between a moderate race realist like Sailer and a conspiracy theorist white supremacist like Duke?

Yes. They are really that thick. But they are also probably aware that Sailer put them on his “Scam Watch.”

The SPLC has long lost its way. I would strongly urge our more liberal friends to view them according to today’s reality, and not through prideful lens of yesteryear.

Beyond BT published a letter from a reader asking,

I have a question that I was wondering if you could post. I am not looking for a debate, only some answers. I, and probably a lot of other BTs, grew up in a staunchly democratic home. I do not think I even knew any republicans. What is up with frum Jews voting republican”

The kicker was at the end of the letter.

“Honestly, I do it because people I respect tell me to. What is the real reason?”

There’s…well…there’s nothing I can say to top that…so let’s just keep going.

Anyway, much discussion ensues, including a few of the expected frummie explanations of why the right-wing Republicans are closer to a Torah point of view, which I find just as convincing as when I read about how the Left-wing Democrats are closer to Judaism because of “Tikkun Olam” and of course, social justice.

Anyway, it was worth reading. One, because we get to laugh at the baal teshuvahs who don’t even know why they are voting according to “daas Torah,” and two, because Steve Brizel brings down a brilliant approach from Rabbi J.B. Soloveitchik (RYBS).

Brizel writes,

Like it or not, I think that it is too easy to say that the Torah demands that one vote for either party. RYBS once commented that the capitalism ( and i.e. conservatism) set forth in Bava Kamma, Bava Metziah and Bava Basrah is more than offset by the seemingly socialist ( and liberal) ideals set forth in the halachos Shemitah and Yovel.

But bangs his own thumb!

Michaelson writes an essay in the Forward that in part I found excellent. Some really great points on tackling Jewish engagement. But he also makes some serious mistakes.

And then he swerves into far-Left land.

First of all, Michaelson claims,

“Steinhardt, an atheist, has spent a decade funding synagogues and religious institutions — and now he complains that they aren’t reaching atheists like him. Why is this a surprise? What’s needed is a belief in culture: artists, arts organizations, magazines, independent publishing, cultural education.�

This is complete nonsense. Even outside of Birthright, Steinhardt spent much of his largesse on cultural institutions like Makor, Hillel, and Jewish music festivals.

“No think-tank of white, straight men over 50 is going to create a Jewishness for smart, diverse, often multi-faith young people who shape their lives in the age of the iPod.�

I understand the “over 50� jab, but I do believe there were important women in Steinhardt’s organization and among his consultants, but if that wasn’t the case, fair enough.

But you are upset that there were too many white Jews, Jay?

What exactly do you think this is, a government sponsored initiative where “underrepresented minoritiesâ€? must be present in order to even start the meeting? Where “diversity” is trumpeted above all else? This is actually at least in part about promoting endogamy. At least in part. And the fact that there are gay Jews does not obviate that concern about Jewish continuity.

And we are dealing with the future of Jews. Not the future of South East Asians or Blacks or Hispanics.

Look in the mirror and deal with it, Jay. Hey, you don’t mind if I call you “Whitey,” do you, Jay?

I Like Jay Michaelson, and I think he is a smart guy. But when he gets on stage, he plays to the same, small fringe time after time. For instance, when I went to a Zeek release party, Jay instructed us to close our eyes and meditate on a string bean. I am sorry, but this is not for everyone. This is not for many people. This is not even for many JewBus.

Jay Michaelson creates exactly the type of “self-congratulatory bubbles� Michael Steinhardt is sick of pouring money into.

One of the strange aftermaths of the Duke debacle is the question of race and sexual attacks. Is there a greater chance white men will assault a black women than a black man will assault a white woman? According to numbers, the answer should be yes, simply because there are many more white men than black men in the U.S.

The Duke case was not the first time some screamed bloody murder over a bogus rape charge of white men against a black woman. The agitators claimed they wanted a discussion of race and rape. Well, it appears they are getting one, and it isn’t what they had in mind.

Is this possibly because the truth is the inverse of what they (and others) want it to be?

Robert Lindsay writes,

An incredible anecdote: In a 3-yr period in the US, there were 9,000 cases of group Black on White sexual assaults - about 10 per day. In that same 3-year period, Whites, with a 4.5 times greater population, committed exactly zero group sexual assaults on Blacks. That figure alone is simply stunning.

The Left loves to talk about hate crimes, but the only hate crimes they are interested in are White hate crimes against non-Whites. The report makes it quite clear that Blacks are much more likely to commit hate crimes against Whites than vice versa.

What is fascinating is that the media plays up White on Black hate crimes for weeks on end as the crime of the century, while Black on White hate crimes are met with deafening silence from the media. That right there would seem to give the lie to the notion that the US media is hopelessly prejudiced against Blacks and in favor of Whites. If anything, the opposite seems to be the case.

I have also asked friends if these statistics are real. Most have said no, but no one has explained how they are flawed. Lawrence Auster claimed in Front Page Magazine that,

In the United States in 2005, 37,460 white females were sexually assaulted or raped by a black man, while between zero and ten black females were sexually assaulted or raped by a white man.

What this means is that every day in the United States, over one hundred white women are raped or sexually assaulted by a black man.

Why this is a Jewish issue

No one has been a bigger supporter of Hate Crimes than Jewish defense groups. And Hate Crimes seem to target white crimes against others, and are only reluctantly enforced against those who attack regular whites. The underlying fear seems to assume that white crimes against minorities is a significant problem. But the statistics seem to say something quite different.

Additionally, our ownership of media outlets is, well, disproportionate.

If there is a blackout on these types of crimes, we have a strong hand in enforcing it. Why is that?

And what exactly are we afraid of?

JVoices posted an excerpt from Melanie Kaye/Kantrowitz’s new book, “The Colors of Jews.” Ms. Kaye/Kantrowitz does actually raise some interesting questions in this piece. But DK/Kvetcher is not interested in seriously addressing those questions in this post, because Kaye/Kantrowitz isn’t either. Not if this excerpt is any indication.

Anyone who chooses Judaism is what we in the traditional Jewish world call a convert. They are welcome, but individuals do not nullify established communities.

The Forward reports,

Rabbi Michael Lerner, the longtime activist and editor of Tikkun magazine, has published an essay saying he is open to the possibility that the American government may have been behind the September 11 terrorist attacks. “I would not be surprised to learn that some branch of our government conspired either actively to promote or passively to allow the attack on 9/11,� Lerner wrote in an essay published in the new book, “9/11 and American Empire: Christians, Jews, and Muslims Speak Out.� Lerner added that he would also not be surprised if it turned out that the attacks were not the result of a government conspiracy.

“I am agnostic on the question of what happened on 9/11,� he wrote in his essay for the book, which includes articles by other contributors arguing that a government conspiracy was behind the September 11 attacks[…]I salute the people in this collection of articles who are doing an amazing job of examining what may prove to be one of the most perverse conspiracies in the history of democratic governments,� Lerner wrote.

Asked about this passage, Lerner responded, “It says ‘may.’ This is very tentative. It’s not like what I believe to be.� He added: “This is like a bone thrown to them to say, ‘Well, sure, keep up the good work, go and investigate.’ I don’t feel that this investigation is going to lead any place, but it might, and if it does, I don’t think that it’s going to produce a conspiracy of the president and the vice president…. I would be surprised if that turned out to be true. So maybe I shouldn’t say, as I said before, ‘I wouldn’t be surprised.’ I guess I would be a little surprised.�

This guy has ALWAYS been a joke, but if anyone thought he was harmless, let it be clear, this guy is bad news.

Jared Taylor is a “race realist.� He is, to be clear, not a Nazi, though he certainly has friends who are. Though polite, intellectual, and sophisticated, a cold and brutal outlook on life shines through.

But. He was forcibly removed by masked protesters in Canada the other day in order to cancel his speaking engagement. And because I abhor such measures, I am writing this post. To make it clear that the end does not justify the means, and than if you have to wear a mask to do something, well, it probably shouldn’t be done.

The Halifax Daily News reports,

HALIFAX - A group of protesters took matters into their own hands yesterday evening, preventing a speech from an American journalist on controversial ideas about race.

“Get out of town, you’re a racist and a Nazi,” were the shouts coming from between 20 and 30 young protesters, some with bandanas over their faces, toward Jared Taylor as he prepared to speak on the topic Racial Diversity: North America’s Strength or Weakness at the Lord Nelson Hotel in Halifax yesterday[…]

Eventually, members of the gathering decided to forcibly remove Taylor from the small conference room.

They tore up copies of Taylor’s magazine, American Renaissance, which he had brought for distribution, and several protesters formed a human fence, pushing him out of the room while others stacked the chairs.

Once he had been pushed out, the crowd cheered.

But what bothers me most is the Jew in the story, because he’s more of a reflection on me than the dudes wearing masks and kefiyas.

“One man at the protest, who would not give his name but said he was the director of an Atlantic Canada Jewish organization, said the best way to deal with someone such as Taylor was not to listen.

“This guy is a hate monger,” he said. “Ignore him.”

Now, he was clearly not comfortable with the measures used to remove Mr. Taylor from his hotel. But he declined to say, “This is wrong.� And that’s…disappointing.

For those of you wondering am I really defending a man who is a racist and friends with neo-Nazis, the answer is yes, I am. I do not believe any victory will occur because of the actions of these hoodlums. Today they silence Jared Taylor. Tomorrow that same guy in the red kefiyah or someone like him will silence a “Zionist,” because he’s –that’s right — a “racist” and a “Nazi.”

Because of the way Mr. Taylor was treated and silenced, and because Jews did not speak up sufficiently, I feel obligated to give him the last word.

When asked what he thought about the crowd’s reaction, Taylor said he hadn’t anticipated such a reception.

“If what I have to say is either wrong or loathsome, it should be very easy to refute.”

Update: According to this report, Jon Goldberg of the Atlantic Jewish Congress did try to intervene, and this is corroborated on Jared Taylor’s own site, Amren, though readers appear divided about Goldberg because of his “unfortunately” quote. Of course, Amren readers are usually divided in their understanding of The Jews, so this is to be expected.

JVoices, the single funniest Jewish site on the internet (but they have no idea how many giggles they create!) takes on the important daring question: Should we boycott our straight friends weddings in order to force the gay marriage issue?

After all, since “all of the arguments against Gay Marriage are Homophobic,� Mike Finesilver is not going to attend straight weddings anymore. Additionally, he is unwilling to “provide a large and usually overcompensating gift.�

Now Mike, with all due respect, let’s be honest. The gift aspect is completely unrelated to your homosexuality or your gay activism. It’s because you are a cheap Jew. Please don’t go and confuse identities like that. It gives victimology a bad name!

Now you are probably wondering whether I will join in the straight marriage boycott. Well, quite frankly, if the wedding is outside Manhattan, I’ll use whatever excuse I can come up with to justify staying home.

In the off chance any of my readers also get just a teensy weensy bit tired and aggravated with the far-Left’s unremitting babbling about the supreme value of racial diversity over say, stopping the world from melting due to global warming, or think the Bankruptcy Law was horrific, don’t want to lose the next election over gay marriage, or think maybe we shouldn’t award transit strikers who march out of the negotiating table for their “courage” even as the parent union refuses to sanction their lust for civilian pain, I would like to gleefully refer you to two paragraphs in the Forward’s editorial this week. Sometimes it can seem for a moment that the Forward has warmed to the social far-left, and I worry just a little…but then they give ‘em the old bitch slap, just like they always do in the end.

The Democrats, out of power and leaderless for years, return to power chastened and convinced they need to do things differently. Just how differently, no one knows, but the buzzword on everyone’s lips is economic populism. Since the 1970s, they have allowed themselves to be defined as the party of the outsider, the downtrodden, the oppressed and vulnerable minorities. That has allowed the Republicans to present themselves as the voice of the majority, which is a good way to win elections.

The Democrats seem to be aiming now to push their minority-rights agenda toward the background and emphasize their old New Deal-labor platform of economic egalitarianism, promising a better deal for society’s have-nots.

Do you hear that Far-Left? Economics. Health care. Support of public transportation, not just subway strikes. OIL. It’s time to stop the victimology game. It isn’t moral, it isn’t smart, and it isn’t the way to win elections. You are entitled to have your opinions, but I think from now on we will do things my way instead.

Go play color war at your own party. Move on.

Sometimes I get exhausted (for like, five minutes) bitching about fundamentalist places like Big Aish and Dark Light. I need some hope; a sign that we aren’t being pulled and pushed to the polar extremes in the Jewish world.

So at first, there I was, thinking I was reading an old post condemning Satmar for being anti-gay, which is really a good use of one’s time. Because they’re really concerned about appearing reactionary. Satmar is listening; the dialog continues.

But as I read the post, it became clear this was not about Satmar. This was the most vicious slap to the Zionist Entity’s face on a supposedly Jewish group blog I’ve ever seen.

Well, Ariel, as a matter of fact, I don’t agree with the misappropriation of the term “apartheid,â€? because it is…hey, wait a minute…wtf? “Committing genocide?!?â€? Are you out of your mind? What “genocide?â€? Hey Jeannette Friedman, didn’t I tell you all that Holocaust education accomplishes very little and even backfires?

Who needs whatreallyhappened.com when we have JVoices? Cole Kravitz may be the most irresponsible editor of a “Jewish” group blog on the net. I personally think it is unfortunate that he is tolerated and included in the communal conversation by more responsible, reasonable, and nuanced voices on the Jewish Left.
